The Killers Biography
An Indie-Rock band formed in 2002, The Killers have gained acclaim for their two albums of synthesized indie music. The band has four founding members all of which worked in Las Vegas, the city in which the band formed, before they started making music. Brandon Flowers is the lead vocalist and on some tracks plays the keyboard, Dave Keuning plays guitar and does backing vocals, Mark Stoermer is the bassies and also does backing vocals while Ronnie Vanucci Jr. is the drum and percussionist.
The Killers have released two albums to date, the criticially acclaimed debut album Hot Fuss (released in 2004) and the more recent Sam's Town (released in 2006). Their debut album garnered such an interest that they were nominated for several awards the following year including a Grammy for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song. They have had three top 10 singles in the UK and have had similar success in the US. While their popularity in Australia is comparitively less, they have signed to appear in the Big Day Out concert which tours around Australia in 2007.
The band have rivalries via the press with Fall Out Boy and the lesser known The Bravery, who are both on the same US record label as The Killers, Island Music. Flowers, The Killers frontman has been reported to have said that the two bands were riding on the success of The Killers. And very recently it has emerged that a formed member of the band, before they officially became The Killers, has sought legal action after claiming that he wrote a proportion of the hit song Mr. Brightside and would now like to receive some royalties from the track.
